Why is the time on my device off by one hour, one day, etc.?

StarDot recommends the use of a timeserver in most situations. This assures that your StarDot device regulary synchronizes with a precise external timeserver. Some popular timeservers include:

If your StarDot device has firmware older than 1.1.53, it may be that its following the old daylight saving time schedule. Follow these steps to have your device new Daylight Saving Time schedule (effective Sunday, March 11, 2007).

  1. Browse to your StarDot device and click the config or configuration link under the live image.
  2. Click the Date/Time tab
  3. Enable Automatic
  4. Enter a timeserver from the list below.
  5. If your firmware is 1.1.52 or less, add the following to the end of the timezone field: ,M3.2.0,M11.1.0
    Example: PST8PDT,M3.2.0,M11.1.0
  6. If your firmware is 1.1.53 or higher, simply type in your timezone in the timezone field.
